Charles Djou continues to enjoy a fundraising spurt in the聽race to become mayor of Honolulu.
The former congressman received over $40,000 in campaign contributions since聽July 30, according to a filing Wednesday.
That compares with聽just over $10,000 for incumbent Kirk Caldwell during the same period.
Djou received聽contributions from 25 individuals or groups. Big spenders included heiress Abigail聽Kawananakoa and MacNaughton Group executive Eric Tema, who each聽gave $4,000.
Caldwell had seven contributions, including from city employees Jeanne聽Ishikawa ($1,500) and聽Sherilyn聽Kajiwara ($750).聽Ryan Kalei Tsuji’s RKT Media Hawaii provided production services valued at $1,500.
Former mayor Peter Carlisle received just聽two donations聽of $1,000 each.
For the entire election period, Caldwell has raised far more than Djou. But the challenger raised more than twice that of his two major opponents combined last month.
In related news, Caldwell held a聽fundraiser Monday at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii. The suggested donation and went as high as $1,500.
