A comparison of the vetoes in the first two legislative sessions of the past three governors showed former Gov.ÌýLinda Lingle to have the mightiest veto pen in her early years as Hawaii’s chief executive. That includes vetoes that were overridden.

Much of that could have been because she was a Republican governor with a Democrat-controlled Legislature.
