The Hawaii Attorney General’s Office said Tuesday that former聽state Rep.聽Richard Fale pleaded no contest July 1 in state District Court for failing to file “a complete and accurate candidate committee report.”
A press release explained that, under the terms of a plea agreement, Fale agreed to pay $1,000 to the state’s Crime Victim Compensation Fund, publish an apology on his campaign鈥檚 social media webpage and to be in full compliance with the state .
That compliance聽calls for payment of all fines assessed, which currently amounts to $500.
Attorney General Doug Chin said in a statement, 鈥淔ormer Representative Fale recklessly filed candidate committee reports that were not complete and accurate.鈥
Added Kristin Izumi-Nitao, executive director of the Campaign Spending Commission,聽鈥淚 am pleased that the Attorney General continues working with the Campaign Spending Commission to enforce our campaign finance laws.鈥
Fale, a Republican, represented District 47 (Waialua, Haleiwa, Pupukea, Kahuku, Laie, Hauula, Waikane, Waiahole, Sunset Beach, Punaluu and Kaaawa). He unsuccessfully ran for the state Senate in 2014.
