New Pick For Board Of Education
Gov. David Ige appoints Kenneth Uemura to the board replacing Amy Asselbaye, and reappoints Brian DeLima.
Kenneth Uemura, former vice president and chief financial officer at Hawaii Pacific University, has been appointed by Gov. David Ige to the state Board of Education.
Uemura, will serve a three-year term starting June 30, when he will replace Amy Asselbaye, who once served as the chief of staff for then-Gov. Neil Abercrombie.
The University of Hawaii graduate and Vietnam veteran has a diverse background in business and fiscal affairs, according to the release.
“Ken’s vast knowledge of聽finance and education, along with the experience he brings to the table will be a great addition to the Board of Education,鈥 Ige said in the release.
The governor’s office also announced Ige has reappointed Hawaii County board member Brian J. DeLima, whose current term also expires June 30.
