Nainoa Thompson, president of the , received a major honor from the聽 this week.
The Hubbard Medal, identified as the “oldest and most prestigious” honor from the society, goes to Thompson for his “outstanding contributions to scientific research, exploration and conservation.”
The press release says: “A master in the traditional Polynesian art of non-instrument navigating known as wayfinding, Thompson revived the ancient practice while advocating for ocean conservation and a sustainable future for our planet.”
