Lei Ahu Isa is running to represent Hawaii’s聽1st Congressional聽District.

A former state legislator and current trustee with the , Isa said she聽filed her papers Wednesday.

She聽said she’s running聽“by requests of my beneficiaries. I will not have fundraisers, nor ask for campaign donations. I want to be the ‘Billy Beane’ of politics and be a game-changer.”

The reference is to the baseball executive and subject of the film “Moneyball.”

Isa’s OHA term is not up this year.

The CD1 seat, which represents urban Oahu, is being vacated by Rep. Mark Takai for health reasons.

Former Rep. Colleen Hanabusa is expected to run for the seat.

Nearly a dozen people have pulled papers to run. The filing deadline聽is June 7.
