Gabbard’s Office Website Hacked
More than a dozen U.S. House Democrats’ official websites have been down for days. Perhaps not coincidentally, the hacking followed the sit-in on gun control.
Since June 23, Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii and more than a dozen of her Democratic colleagues have not been able to use their official websites.
As , a contractor says hackers are to blame.
“The websites were hit shortly after Democrats ended an overnight sit-in to press for a vote on gun control legislation,” says Politico.
Beside’s , the outage is affecting the sites of Reps. Earl Blumenauer, John Carney, Rosa DeLauro, Lloyd Doggett, Tammy Duckworth, Donna Edwards, Sam Farr, Alan Grayson, Marcy Kaptur, William Keating, John Larson, Jim McDermott, Richard Neal, Ed Perlmutter, Jackie Speier and Filemon Vela.
A spokesperson for Gabbard said, “While we don’t have an exact time/date for the website to be up again, we expect it should up very soon. The malicious script that was inserted into the system has been identified and removed. Our website will be up and running again once we are certain that the server is completely secure.”
No confidential or personal information was stored on Gabbard’s website, and so no private or personal data or information was compromised.
She added, “Until the website is up and running again, we encourage constituents who need assistance to please call our office at 808-541-1986.”
