For the sixth year on a row, Hawaii has of being the worst state in which to make a living.

, using聽聽such as聽the U.S.聽Bureau of Labor Statistics,聽based聽its 2016聽ranking on聽average wages, state tax rates, cost of living, unemployment rates and incidents of workplace injuries.

The main reason for the 50th state landing at No. 50 is because of our 68.6 percent higher cost of living than the national average.

Our unemployment rate is actually聽enviable聽at 3.1 percent. But our average state tax on income is high at $2,482.

Best states to make聽a living, says the survey, are Wyoming followed by Washington and Virginia.
