When it comes to sustainable spending habits, Hawaii and Nevada top the list for the portion of the population that spends more than it earns.
More than one person in five — 23 percent of island residents —spends in an unsustainable way, WalletHub concluded.
That says more about our nation-leading cost of living than about our actual financial savvy; we ranked 16th nationally on the latter front.
