Looking for another indication that buying power in the islands doesn’t let many residents get by?

Take a look at the latest rankings from the finance and data website, WalletHub, which focus on .

When it comes to sustainable spending habits, Hawaii and Nevada top the list for the portion of the population that spends more than it earns.

More than one person in five — 23 percent of island residents —spends in an unsustainable way, WalletHub concluded.

That says more about our nation-leading cost of living than about our actual financial savvy; we ranked 16th nationally on the latter front.
