Senate: Name Something After Obama
Hawaii lawmakers want a school, building, road or “area” under state control to honor the famous native son.
Two resolutions pushed by a majority of Hawaii state senators call for the naming of a road, school or building after President Barack Obama.
The resolutions, which have hearings this week, also say an “area” under the control of the state could also be so designated.
Here’s why, in part, according to one of :
- WHEREAS, under President Obama’s leadership, the United States economy has thrived, the national deficit has shrunk by two-thirds, and the national unemployment rate has dropped below 5.3 percent; and
- WHEREAS, under the leadership of President Obama, the landmark Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed, allowing more than sixteen million Americans to have affordable and quality health care; and
- WHEREAS, additional accomplishments of President Obama include ending United States combat operations in Iraq, winning the Nobel Peace Prize, signing into law the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and beginning the process of normalizing relations with Cuba.
Efforts to name something in the state after the native born president have thus far made little progress.
Perhaps the state should name a golf course, considering all the time Obama聽has spent on one聽during his visits.
