State Rep. Bob McDermott, an outspoken Republican in Hawaii, is supporting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for president.
“I am honored to be onboard with a man of decency, class, principle and courage,” McDermott said in a press release Monday from聽. “Go get em, Ted!”
McDermott, who represents House聽District 40 (Ewa Beach-Iroquois Point),聽has become known for his “courageous leadership to protect traditional marriage, ensure religious freedom, and end the state’s highly controversial ‘Pono Choices’ sex education curriculum,” says the release.
The press release does not say so, but McDermott’s views also upset some聽in Hawaii who argue he is too extreme in his positions.
Cruz is on the March 8 Hawaii GOP presidential caucus ballot along with the remaining four candidates in the race.
