The filing period for Hawaii candidates doesn’t begin听until Feb. 1 (and runs until June 7),听but at least one legislative contender is already throwing her hat into the ring.
Republican announced her candidacy for the Hawaii House of Representatives last week听at the听Capitol Rotunda.
Agustin, , is听seeking to represent听District 34 (Waimalu, Pearl City, Pacific Palisades).听
Her听campaign says it听has introduced a smart phone app (available on Android and Apple) and plans to add an interactive chat / blog that voters can use to asked the candidate questions.
Agustin听lost to incumbent Democrat Gregg Takayama in 2014 by a large margin, 58 听percent to 38 percent.
Takayama is and press secretary for the U.S. Sen. Dan Inouye and communications director for Lt. Governor Ben Cayetano.

听“I think Agustin’s Republican agenda is out of step with our Pearl City constituency,” he said.
