The 聽says that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will be its聽keynote speaker for the local聽GOP’s 2016 Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb.16.
“Gov. Scott Walker is one of America’s most effective governors and the Hawaii Republican Party is honored to have him serve as the keynote speaker at our annual Lincoln Day Dinner,” Hawaii GOP Chair, Fritz Rohlfing, said in a press release Sunday.
Rohlfing added, “Gov. Walker transformed Wisconsin’s economy, dug its state government out from under a tremendous budget deficit, and has bravely reformed his state’s civil service system.”
Many Wisconsin Democrats, however, have opposed Walker’s conservative policies on labor and higher education. He survived a recall election in 2012 and was re-elected two years later.
Walker was briefly a candidate in聽the Republican presidential contest this year.
