So social media, TV, newspapers, congressional offices and politicians continue Muslim-bashing, anti-Latino trash talk, anti-religious venom, and the 24/7 mass killings cycle.

Our response as Hawaii people has been lame and that’s not OK. I resent the fat cats of both political parties and their smiling supporters in their $150 “aloha” shirts acting the courageous heroes.

This is not Hawaii … neither is it America.

Right now, more effort is proposed for additional vetting of 25,000 Syrian war refugees entering the United States. By contrast, Germany will take in 850,000 to 1 million refugees this year.

A news outlet says the terrorists in San Bernardino planned “jihad.” Huh? War is ugly, but San Bernardino was low-grade terrorism, not even Sandy Hook, which was real ugly.

So let’s ease up on the anti-Muslim kukai.

I’m not saying life will be peachy clean when we call out the fearmongers in the go-along-to-get-along crowd. Life will become even more difficult because they’ll begin personally bashing us. But we should not tolerate fake patriotism.

Standing against fake patriotism will reassure Muslims, Arabs and Muslim-looking people that they made the right choice seeking sanctuary in the U.S.

So please, tell friends, relatives and the politicians how you feel, and if you’re conflicted, explain why. I assure you, your thoughts, feelings and beliefs are legitimate.

In a video interview that got wide attention, an聽older French lady said after the Paris attacks that France is an old civilization that extends brotherhood to 5 million Muslims, but will fight the 10,000 who oppose that civilization.

As Hawaii people, let’s push the brotherhood-sisterhood thing before jumping into more killing, because even when we win at war, the sights, smells and scars are awful.
