NWS: Hurricane Oho No Threat to Hawaii
Hurricane Oho is passing east of the islands while gaining strength.
Hurricane Oho聽picked聽up strength east of the islands overnight, but National Weather Service forecasters said Tuesday morning that聽it no longer poses a threat to Hawaii.
The final aircraft reconnaissance mission since Oho had moved 600 miles southeast of Oahu and was tracking northeast over the next few days.
Storm-related surf is expected to affect the south and east shores of the Big Island later Tuesday and Wednesday. “the remaining聽islands will likely be shadowed from any of this possible surf.”
Oho is the seventh hurricane of the season in the north central Pacific.
