Pod Squad: Talking Medi-Pot With a Potential Dispensary Operator
Eight business licenses will soon be up for grabs to grow medical marijuana and operate Hawaii’s first dispensaries.
The process of setting up Hawaii’s first medical marijuana dispensaries is gearing up as the state Department of Health moves to聽adopt rules and then for business licenses to grow cannabis and run the dispensaries.
One of the entrepreneurs who has announced his intention to seek a license, Bill Jarvis, a telecommunications business owner, joined 聽the Pod Squad on Friday to talk with host Chad Blair and reporter Anita Hofschneider.
Gov. David Ige recently signed a bill that allows dispensaries in Hawaii for the first time, even though medical marijuana was legalized in the state 15 years ago. Until now, patients had to grow their own, get it from a designated caretaker or, as Jarvis said, “commit an illegal act” by buying it on the black market.
