It seems there is a big feral chicken problem on the Garden Island.

that the birds are crowing in parking lots, eating garbage and cat food and being fed at the beach.

Biologists of the feral chickens is also “a window into how humans domesticated wild animals.”听

Talk has it听that many of the Kauai chickens are descendants of birds that escaped when Hurricane Iwa hit in听1982 and Hurricane Iniki hit听a decade later, blowing open chicken coops.
