The 聽plans to host community meetings throughout the state beginning next month聽to get聽input on a聽conceptual master plan for its properties in Kakaako Makai.
OHA owns nine parcels totaling 30 acres in the area.
鈥淥HA鈥檚 overarching focus for Kakaako Makai is two-fold 鈥 income generation and cultural vitality,鈥 OHA Chairman Robert Lindsey Jr. 聽said in a press release Thursday. 鈥淭hese are complementary goals, allowing OHA to generate income that will help fuel our mission to improve the well-being of Native Hawaiians, as well as enhance and strengthen our culture in the heart of Honolulu.鈥
The agency has聽hired the consulting firm Kuhikuhi Puuone Collaborative聽to help聽with its planning.
Last year, OHA was unsuccessful in persuading the Hawaii Legislature to approve development聽on several of the agency’s Kakaako Makai parcels.
