Pod Squad: Is Anyone Paying Attention To CD1?
John Hart joins Civil Beat’s Chad Blair and Nathan Eagle to talk about how the campaign for one of Hawaii’s House seats is shaping up.
“It’s not only an open seat, it’s potentially a legacy seat,” said HPU professor and podcast guest John Hart. “Hawaii loves incumbents – especially if they’re Democrats. If a Democrat gets this seat, it’s probably theirs for life or as long as they want it. And considering we’re sending, potentially, someone to Congress permanently, you’d think there’d be more attention.”
Hart sat down with Civil Beat reporter and Pod Squad host Chad Blair and Nathan Eagle, who has been covering the campaign, to talk about CD1 race. The trio discussed how the Democratic candidates differentiated themselves during the “debates,” which one is the most natural and unrehearsed, and how they’ll fare against Republican Congressional candidate Charles Djou.
“I think Takai has got the best chance,” noted Eagle. “Because I think he’ll separate himself the most from the issues that Djou has and also because I think he has the most momentum right now going into the general.”
