The pro-choice political action committee plans to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on the congresswoman’s campaign to unseat U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz.
EMILY’s List, the Democratic pro-choice group that supports women running for political office, has bought TV air time to support U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, the .
The group’s political action committee has long been a supporter of Hanabusa in her bid to unseat U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz, who in 2012 took over for Daniel K. Inouye, who died while in office.
According to the newspaper, the EMILY’s list ads will focus on Hanabusa’s efforts to protect entitlement programs, such as Social Security and Medicare, as well as her efforts advocating for equal pay for women.
The cash infusion should be a boost to Hanabusa, who has been competing against a Schatz campaign that has more money and more outside backing.
Schatz is leading in the polls. He was also endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters, which has also to support the senator.
