The following came from Kawika Crowley, one of two Republican candidates for U.S. representative for Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District. The other is Marissa Capelouto. Democrat Tulsi Gabbard and Libertarian Joseph Kent are also running.
The district includesÌýall of the Windward, North Shore, Central, and Leeward regions of Oahu. It also includes the entire state outside of Oahu.

1. Why are you running for the U.S. House of Representatives?
I am sick of big fat-ass government and crooked politicians.
2. Do you believe climate change is real? If so, what can the United States do to control carbon emissions?
Carbon is less than 2 percent of our atmosphere. Global warming is nothing but another big government hoax!ÌýBTW, the earth is flat.
3. Where do you draw the line between the government’s national security needs and the privacy of its citizens?
If you got nothing to hide, don’t worry about it.
4. Under what circumstances should America go to war?
When our homeland is attacked.
5. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid — how should the government continue to support these entitlements? Are reforms necessary?
None of these are sustainable past 2030. We must slowly begin the painful process of scaling back each one.
6. Congress has struggled in recent years to reach agreement on budget deficits, the national debt and spending in general. What would be your approach to fiscal matters?
I call it the five-year diet plan, whereby every agency in Washington, from the EPA to the FDA, beginÌýthe process of cutting 5 percent of each one’s budget every year. In five years we will have reduced our budget by a whopping 25 percent.
7. It has been difficult to bridge the partisan divide in Washington lately. How would you make a difference?
This is an ideological warÌýbetween free market capitalism and Marxist socialism.Ìý Those of us free market Conservatives must stand our ground toÌýprotect what our beloved Founding Fathers so brilliantly created.
8. What is your policy on immigration?
Secure the damned border!
9. What is your view of the role of the U.S. military in the islands?
They make up about a quarter of our GDP.Ìý Love them!
10. What other important issue would you like to discuss here
Restoration Hawaiian nation! It is time to right the wrong.
