Hawaii is a hiker’s heaven, so it’s no surprise there is a passionate and connected community across all the islands to take advantage of the diverse topography.
That also means there are a host of issues that come into play, whether it’s about safety, liability, carrying capacities, public lands, or caring for the trails. What are the risks and responsibilities involved? How do tourists fit into the picture?
