A Honolulu police officer shot a 17-year-old runaway in the wrist this morning in what many feared was a school shooting at Roosevelt High School.

Preliminary reports indicate the boy pulled a kitchen knife when approached by officers, who went to the school to take him into custody.

The boy was taken to Queen’s Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and is being held on attempted murder charges.

The the officers involved in the incident received minor injuries, including the officer who fired the shots. , that officer suffered a minor laceration to the torso.
