Hawaiian Electric Co. says it has deals in the works for nine new solar farms for Oahu. But the near-monopoly electric utility won’t say where the projects will be built or who’s building them. That’s OK with Consumer Advocate Jeff Ono even though the projects will involve tens of thousands of solar panels covering hundreds of acres. Ono’s deference to HECO prompted political cartoonist John Pritchett to conclude HECO has him on a short leash.
