A bill moving through the Legislature would close a loophole in how police departments have to report misconduct to the Legislature every year.
But some say the bill doesn’t go far enough and want to use it to bolster the information available to the public on misconduct in Hawaii.
Sens. Les Ihara and Will Espero are taking the lead on the measure.
