It’s been an emotional weekend for Hawaii. The state collectively bid its final goodbyes to Sen. Daniel K. Inouye in two ceremonies.

Thousands gathered Saturday evening at the Hawaii State Capitol’s rotunda for a memorial service infused with Hawaiian traditions.

On Sunday, Inouye was laid to rest at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. He was celebrated with military honors, a rifle salute, and a missing man jet flyover.

Photographer Brian Tseng captured both events for Civil Beat.
