No Stevie Wonder? No Problem. UH Students Put On Their Own Concert

Fed up with the Stevie Wonder concert debacle that cost the University of Hawaii $200,000, a group of UH Manoa students are putting on their own free concert to celebrate Hawaiian Independence Day.聽

Excerpts from a news release sent out by the students:聽

This L膩 K奴驶oko驶a (Hawaiian Independence Day) celebration is the only known one of its kind on the island of O’ahu and is expected to gain hundreds of attendees with confirmation from numerous community organizations, college student organizations, and schools.聽 L膩 K奴驶oko驶a was established in 1843 by King Kamehameha III Kauikeaouli to celebrate the international recognition of the Hawaiian Kingdom by Great Britain and France.聽 A year later, the United States would grant that same recognition.

The concert, dubbed Aloha Aina, will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m. on Bachman Lawn. It is being funded and organized by UH student group .聽 聽
