The city recently released its final transit-oriented development plan for the town, which includes renderings of how it plans to develop around two rail stations planned for the area.
Aside from taller, mixed-use buildings, the plan also calls for more green space and pathways that link neighborhoods. There鈥檚 also the infrastructure to consider.
The plan shows five phases of infrastructure and other public improvements spread over 25 years that are estimated to cost around $140 million.
That money is not included in the $5.26 billion cost of the project, which means it will have to come from somewhere else.
Some options mentioned in the plan include special taxes, bonds and private financing. There are also incentives for developers, such as tax increment financing.
Transit oriented development 鈥 or TOD as its commonly known 鈥 has been a major selling point for rail. The idea is to develop the areas around the project鈥檚 21 stations to make them more dense and pedestrian friendly.
