Honolulu mayoral candidate just issued a statement about the Pacific Resource Partnership鈥檚 targeting former Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano.

Here it is:

鈥淥ur campaign has no control of the actions of PRP or any other independent group. But I am against illegal campaign contributions, and I do support public funding of elections to help guard against corruption. As for the facts presented against Ben Cayetano, you would have to ask him for comment.鈥

This isn鈥檛 the first time Caldwell has weighed in on the charges PRP has levied against Cayetano. He did it once during a televised debate, resulting in a .

Cayetano, of course, was never found to have committed any wrongdoing. He even had former Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission officials back him up to dispute PRP鈥檚 claims.
