It goes without saying that you know what Honolulu’s mayoral candidates think about rail.
But do you know where they stand on other important issues before the city?
This week, Civil Beat published the first of our political questionnaires. We started off with the mayoral hopefuls — asking them about everything from trash to water infrastructure. We’ll be moving on to Honolulu City Council candidates next.
On the campaign finance front, we took a closer at special interests as they ramp up their spending. Digging through the Campaign Spending Commission’s records, we found more than 80 political action committees registered.
And of course, the big news of the week was the U.S. Supreme Court’s surprise decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act. We covered the ruling with an eye toward what the law means for Hawaii and how it plays into our own Congressional contests.
