Former Gov. Ben Cayetano went to the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly Saturday to seek their help in his run for mayor. We previewed that meeting in our Friday story, “Back Into The Lion’s Den, Cayetano Asking for Professors’ Support

Cayetano told us this morning that he got a warm welcome at the closed-door forum, and that the room full of the “most highly educated people in the state” understood his objections to the rail project.

UHPA Executive Director JN Musto agreed that professors in attendance Saturday were sympathetic to Cayetano’s concerns. Will that be enough to score the union’s endorsement?

We’ll have more soon.
