There will be no Honolulu City Council committee meetings Thursday, as the Transportation Committee has canceled its meeting. Here’s the .

9:47 a.m. Hilton Hawaiian Village On The Agenda

The crowd at this morning’s Zoning and Planning Committee meeting is standing room only, with some overflow out into the hallway. Part of that could be due to a pair of resolutions that would allow the expansion of Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.

The two resolutions — Nos. and — would grant a special management area permit and planned development-resort permit for the hotel complex’s proposed master plan, which includes two new towers.

There are a couple of other Waikiki planning matters on . Because today is Discoverer’s Day, some folks might be off from their construction and architecture jobs and available to spend their mornings down at Honolulu.

Zoning and Planning

Honolulu City Council** committee meetings are usually held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, but we’ve got a rare Monday meeting this morning.

The Zoning and Planning Committee, chaired by Ikaika Anderson, has a number of items to consider. One of them is introduced by Tom Berg that would allow temporary shelters in shipping containers. There’s a that the committee will take up.
