4:30 p.m. Social Media, Politics on ‘Bytemarks Cafe’

Tonight, KIPO’s will take on social media and its impact on political decisions.

Speaking of Ed Case, blogger David Nir continues to share his animus for the man.

Here’s his :

I’m still trying to figure out how the hell conservaDem Ed Case plans to win the primary. I bring this head-scratcher up yet again because the Hawaii Government Employees Association just announced it’s supporting Rep. Mazie Hirono, which just adds to her already-considerable pile of endorsements from serious establishment organizations. (The HGEA is described as “the state’s largest public-sector labor union.”) The last line of the writeup amuses me: “Case has said he is comfortable taking his campaign message directly to rank-and-file union members.” That’s one of those lines like, “Our supporters don’t care how much money we raise” and “the only poll which matters is the one on election day.” You know, loser-talk.

12:30 p.m. Maui Kudos for Kaauwai

has on the reaction of Maui Republicans to the resignation of Jonah Kaauwai.

Excerpt:

“He’s a great guy,” said Cindy Sue Clark, who was elected as Maui GOP chairwoman Sept. 14. “We all like him. We think very highly of him. That’s the sad thing. We hold him in high regard.”

9 a.m. Duckworth In Town for Fundraiser

Tammy Duckworth, the McKinley High grad, military vet and now candidate for Congress in Illinois, is in town this afternoon.

According to a press release, she’s here for a fundraiser hosted by Neil Abercrombie and Hawaii’s congressional delegation. Duckworth will speak with reporters at 2 p.m. in the lobby of Ala Moana Hotel.

8:45 a.m. OIP Lets Sun Shine In

The Office of Information Practices is holding a seminar all day today at the Capitol auditorium.

OIP is offering legal education credits while participants learn about Hawaii’s open records and open meetings law.

Forums: Native Geothermal

Innovations Development Group, a local energy-development , invites the Big Island community to discuss geothermal development.

The forums are moderated by IDG CEO Patricia Brandt and panelists include Mililani Trask, Robert Lindsey and Richard Ha.

• Today: Kanu o Ka Aina New Public Charter School, Kamuela, 5-8:30 p.m.

• Tomorrow: Kealakehe High School, Kailua-Kona, 6-9:30 p.m.
