Another member has decided to resist Gov. Neil Abercrombie鈥檚 request that she resign.
That brings the number of Stadium Authority members who are choosing to stay on board to six.
As of Wednesday, 20 out of the 28 appointees who in mid-June received resignation requests from the governor are declining those requests.
Kay Ahina told Civil Beat Wednesday that after mulling it over for weeks she has decided to stick to her role on the Stadium board 鈥 at least for now.
鈥淚 was waiting to see what was going to happen, thinking about it a lot,鈥 she said, noting that her decision isn鈥檛 set in stone. 鈥淏ut as of right now, I鈥檓 not going to resign.鈥
The Stadium Authority is made up of nine members, all of whom were appointed by former Gov. Linda Lingle and received the 鈥渃ourtesy鈥 letters from Abercrombie.
Stadium Authority chairman Kevin Chong Kee and member Nelson Oyadomari had in early July indicated that none of the board members would heed the governor鈥檚 request.
But Abercrombie鈥檚 press secretary several days later confirmed that Stadium Authority member Lawrence Tseu had, through a spokesperson, verbally notified the governor鈥檚 office that he would resign.
In addition to Tseu, two other Lingle appointees 鈥 Matilda Yoshioka and Eric Beaver, both of the 鈥 have said they鈥檙e accommodating Abercrombie鈥檚 request.
Another Housing Authority member, Clarissa Hosino, resigned before receiving the governor鈥檚 letter.
Abercrombie had in writing requested that Lingle appointees on the Stadium and Public Housing authorities, the , the and who didn鈥檛 have terms set to expire this year resign. He asked them to do so in order for him to implement his , which entailed overhauling the state administration.
Aside from the six Stadium Authority members, all the Lingle appointees on the BLNR and Public Utilities Commission are declining Abercrombie鈥檚 request.
Four appointees have yet to notify Civil Beat of their decision.
