Most book lovers try to support their libraries, but not this one.

A former University of Hawaii student is suspected of incrementally stealing almost 200 rare books from the university’s . A book seller in California tipped the library off that someone was trying to sell him valuable books stamped with the UH logo.

Honolulu Police officers seized the books from the unnamed male suspect’s Waikiki apartment, and they were returned to the library Thursday night.

Together they are worth between $40,000 and $100,000, according to Associate University Librarian Alan Grosenheider.
