School Employee Charged With 99 Felony Counts
A former Pearl Ridge Elementary School employee faces 99 felony counts for allegedly stealing $68,000, the ‘s office said Tuesday.
The complaint against 41-year-old Waipahu resident Denise Hayashi, filed on Monday, alleges one count of theft and 98 counts of forgery that occurred between Jan. 11, 2008 and May 20, 2011. Hayashi allegedly stole more than $68,000 from Pearl Ridge Elementary by forging the principal’s signature on checks belonging to the school.
Hayashi’s arraignment and plea is set for Monday, June 20, 2011 at 9 a.m. before circuit court judge Richard Perkins.
If found guilty, she could face up to 10 years in jail and/or up to $25,000 fine for theft, and up to 5 years in jail and/or a $10,000 fine for each forgery count.
