That’s one way to take care of the problem. The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources on Wednesday announced it’s awarded a contract to an outside firm to help its maligned Historic Preservation Division fix major operational issued identified by the National Park Service.

Those issues with the way the state manages historic resources were severe enough that federal grant funding is in jeopardy. The company, Solutions Pacific LLC, is headed by former Hawaii Department of Hawaiian Home Lands Director Ray Soon.
