The Hawaii Department of Education provided Civil Beat a list of all teachers fired or suspended for misconduct over the past two years. The information came in response to a public records request. The list revealed that 10 Hawaii public school teachers have been dismissed for misconduct in the last two years, and 37 more were suspended.
Here is the document, as it was supplied to Civil Beat in hard-copy form:
The list doesn’t tell the whole story of how many teachers have been fired by the Department of Education. The department did not share how many teachers were terminated for poor performance, but the list begins to piece together the teacher and department accountability puzzle. Read an analysis of the information provided by the department.
