State health officials said in a statement that they’re investigating two suspected cases of dengue fever in East Maui. The cases have not been confirmed.
Since March 24, the Health Department has confirmed four cases of the mosquito-borne illness on Oahu, in the Pearl City area. All four adults who contracted the illness recovered.
The Health Department asked doctors to report any suspected cases dengue fever. Officials said they have received 42 reports of suspected dengue from physicians statewide. Of the 42 reports, 13 have been ruled out or determined negative.
