The flood waters from last week’s tsunami knocked some homes off their foundations on the Big Island’s Kona Coast. One large blue house was washed — in one piece — into the ocean, and eventually settled in Kealakekua Bay. These photos, taken by kayak tour operator Alex Ferrugem, show the wide range of debris left on the reef.
Ferrugem posted the shots to his and allowed Civil Beat to publish them. Ferrugem tried to remove some of the debris, as he wants to protect the area that has provided him a place to live, work and play.
