Websters defines “charity” as: “an institution engaged in relief of the poor.”

But, if is approved by the Senate today, the definition may soon need to be expanded to include labor unions.

It isn’t particularly surprising that a state dominated by Democrats would find a way to help the party’s biggest supporters. Even though most people wouldn’t consider a labor union a “charitable entity,” he who has the gold makes the rules and the Donkeys are in firm control of state coffers.

If passed, the bill would allow lawmakers and state employees (many of whom are in unions) to accept free tickets to charitable fundraisers — from unions. We do note that business leagues would also be included in the charitable category.

Makes us wonder: What other definitions could the Legislature manipulate?
