Last week, Civil Beat reported that four senators traded barbs on the floor after the nomination of William Aila Jr. was deferred.

We weren’t there to witness it in person, and the cameras weren’t on for us to watch on TV. But the Senate has made available to us a transcript of the exchange that reveals the depth and breadth of the argument and shows why Sen. Clayton Hee asked for more time to review Aila’s bid to run the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources.

Here’s the post we wrote at the time, Aila Debate Lands on Hawaii Senate Floor.

First, a disclaimer. This is the cover page of a hard copy of the transcript that this reporter received from a Senate spokesman Wednesday morning. The full transcript follows after the jump.

“Per your request, attached are floor speeches/remarks on G.M. No. 517 from Day 23 of the Regular Session of 2011. Please note that the 2011 Journal has not yet been certified and published.
