Federal authorities are investigating more than two dozen Transportation Security Administration officers at Honolulu International Airport for letting thousands of checked bags onto flights without screening them for explosives, according to KITV News.
The security lapse lasted months and involved employees working the morning shift at Honolulu’s Lobby 4.
Sources told KITV that baggage that was supposed to be opened up and checked for traces of explosives, but in some cases, TSA agents marked suitcases as having been screened when they hadn’t been checked at all.
