In January 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency ordered a cleanup at Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill. Civil Beat requested documents generated for the EPA pursuant to that order, and will be publishing them, raw and unedited, as soon as we receive them.
On Feb. 16, work on the diversion channel was in the rear-view mirror, and the contractor was unable to pump stormwater from the sedimentation basin because the level of standing water is too low — probably a good thing. Silt and rock are now being removed from the area.
