In January 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency ordered a cleanup at Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill. Civil Beat requested documents generated for the EPA pursuant to that order, and will be publishing them, raw and unedited, in real time.

The Feb. 8 report says protective stone was removed from the damaged landfill cell to allow further investigation of the liner material. Some damage was repaired, but limited access slowed progress.

The final concrete pour for the wall of the diversion channel was also delayed when the truck had difficulty access the area due to mud. The pour was set to take place Feb. 9 instead.

Nearly 45,000 of stormwater were pumped from the sediment basin and taken for treatment.
