Some sad news for amateur golfers hoping for some playing time with the pros: The Sony Pro-Am has been canceled due to the rain.

Fifty-one teams were supposed to tee-off for one round of golf on Wednesday. The event pairs a PGA pro with a team of amateurs.

Things don’t look much better for Thursday’s Sony Open, either. As of Wednesday, the reports a 90 percent chance of rain, including possible thunderstorms for the tournament鈥檚 opening round Thursday morning. Rain could on Friday as well, though forecasters expect the showers to lighten up on Saturday and Sunday, with just a 30 percent to 40 percent chance of rain.

A tour spokesman told Civil Beat that tournament officials will make a decision late Wednesday about whether the open will take a mulligan.
