Special Election Day Arrives
The wait is nearly over. Voters in the District 1 City Council special election will soon find out whom they’ve elected to represent them at Honolulu Hale. Rail Officials Gear Up for Public Hearings
Public hearings on rail are a boisterous event in Honolulu. There’s a lot of passion on all sides, and folks will have a chance to express themselves at two public hearings early next year. The city’s Department of Planning and Permitting will host hearings about the Special Management Area Use Permit on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6. The City Council will then take up the issue later next month.
Also on the rail front, officials have paused preliminary engineering soil testing for the time being. A rail spokesperson says many people in the division are on vacation, and the testing will resume after the holidays.
