The saga of Japanese billionaire Genshiro Kawamoto and his mysterious plans for his rundown Kahala properties took another turn Tuesday night. Kawamoto has a lot of homes that are falling apart in the East Honolulu community and neighbors turned out at a meeting to express concerns about his new plans for a private museum. He was called a “bad neighbor” because he doesn’t take care of his properties. But area Rep. Barbara Marumoto said it’s Kawamoto’s right to build a private museum. A problem will arise if he decides to try to make it a public facility.
