Voters will decide next Tuesday who is to serve in seven of the 13 elected seats on the Hawaii State Board of Education. And maybe it’s because it’s a special election and it wasn’t on the primary ballots last month, but the Leeward District race for the Hawaii State Board of Education has been largely overlooked this campaign season, as we reported last week.

But Civil Beat has added information about the Leeward candidates to its Board of Education Election 2010 topic page. Go forth and meet them.

For now, a quick breakdown of the new additions.

Three candidates are vying for Breene Harimoto‘s unfinished term:

  • James Arola
  • Maralyn Kurshals
  • David O’Neal

Harimoto vacated the Leeward seat on the board this summer with two years remaining, in order to run for Honolulu City Council.
