Join Us to Talk Energy and Water
If you haven’t been able to attend one of our “Value of Hawaii” events, I hope you’ll drop by Civil Beat next week.
Civil Beat partnered with the editors of the book The Value of Hawaii because we felt we shared a common purpose, to encourage thoughtful discussion of the issues facing the state to help inform people as they consider how to vote.
What’s taken me about our first four meetings is the way the kind of dialogue we’re hoping to encourage on our website breaks out spontaneously when we’re together in person. These aren’t sessions where authors lecture the audience. They’re a chance to meet and talk with knowledgeable writers.
This time we’ll be talking about energy and water. I don’t think I need to explain how important those are to our future. Based on my reading of the essays by Henry Curtis and D. Kapuaala Sproat, there’ll be a lot to talk about.
The session will be on Tuesday at Civil Beat headquarters, 3465 Waialae Ave., Suite 200. We’ll start with an informal gathering at 5:30, followed by a conversation of about an hour or so with the writers. The sessions are free and open to the public, but please RSVP to events@civilbeat.com so you can reserve your space.
